Character Name: Dillan Rey (Red)
Canon: Pokémon RBY(FRLG)/GSC(HGSS)
Canon Background: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Red_%28game%29
AU Background: Red grew up in Mist. He was born there, to a loving mother...and a father that left. He doesn't know why, and since he could never get an answer out of anyone; doesn't care any more. His dad was supposedly a great summoner however, and his mother joked when Red vowed to find his dad, "Son, you'll have to be a good as he was; and he was one of the best."
That simple statement perhaps is what set Red in his ways. When he really came into learning about summoning, he picked up the name "Red" because his eyes would faintly glow. It's also his favorite color, and he'd try whenever at all possible to wear at least one article of clothing in the shade. That's not to say he didn't get distracted with his goal, he had a life and friends to play with often, including Rydia, who he often times made fun of because he was a few years older.
This was good for him because she'd respond, and they'd develop a friendly rivalry that would give Red incentive to do better than he might by himself. He had other friends, and perhaps more still rivals in his life, of course, and life was simple as they aged and grew. Of course...
Well, Red hit a pretty selfish point in his youth, enough that it made it difficult for he and his chosen partner; Charmander to work together as well as they did before. So, it was time to acquire some new friends. While hurt, the spirit did help well enough, leading to Red gaining three additional summons, including a jerk dubbed Pikachu. While very powerful, it was fairly abusive to Red, at least as much as a summon spirit could be to it's summoner. Slowly, the bonds of friendship formed, and while Charmander was still Red's most important partner, he gained a special bond with this other, as well.
The time came where Red, in his arrogance, decided that perhaps it was time to try making his way alone for a while, and he figured what better excuse was there than to steal a special artifact? Thus, he laid plans to steal the Master Ball, and after success, he fled Mist itself to roam.
The first results were a minor disaster, to say the least. So now Red's been wandering a few months by himself, and is actually debating going home, if he can handle the blow to his pride of being defeated.
Personality: Greed and Pride.
Red does suffer from these as his own personal sins he must overcome. He wants to be the best. The strongest. To stand over a mountain of challenges and know that while they might come close, he will in the end win out at last and have that hallowed crown set upon his brow.
Realistically, he knows quite well that's very dangerous and hurtful thinking, but he is a naturally competitive person, and can't help but look for a challenge. While he might not have dreams as grand as described above; he really does want to be the very best he can be, and hope that it's the best like no one before him ever was.
He has trouble with assistance. Knowing he needs it does not make him extremely happy in having to have it, and while he'll be very willing to go through the motions to learn what he needs, it'll be obvious he'll feel a little, a little helpless, while he's having to endure such help.
While there appears to be a distinct split in his personality, Red is actually pretty chatty. Almost enough to be sarcastically referred to as a "Chatty Gossip" by a friend. When it's time to fight, battle, catch, or summon; Red does indeed become very quiet. He devotes all of his being to concentrating to ensure he has a firm grasp of command on his summons and will give others the best blank-face and ellipsis ever if they think they're going to get a complicated conversation out of him during such times. Same when he's practicing his meditation or concentration; he wants to ensure he has it, and that means it's worthy of all of his effort.
So, if he goes silent on you suddenly, it means the second sight has brought something worthy of his attention into view. Don't be offended, just let him be, or at least wait for him to give an explanation before stomping off.
Which leads to the point of anger, mentioning his father will incite this like nothing else will. Other than that, Red burns almost like a living flame with his passion for summoning and competition, but he's actually pretty calm when it comes to social graces. Calm the point of awkward at times; he'll be off day dreaming when someone does something outrageous, and this will only prompt a confused look from the boy, but when he's not dreaming of big things, he's pretty normal. And like most boys his age, girls are becoming interesting. Very interesting.
Enough so that he's started to turn into a bit of a flirt. Also like most boys his age; he needs a little work, but a bit of clumsy charm never hurt, right? Exactly. So while he'll learn his way in life best through experience, he should do okay until it deposits itself in his lap.
Obviously, exploiting Red should be obvious; while he's pretty clever and learned for his age; if one can trick him into a competition, Red should follow along almost too easily unless someone can bring him into light of the situation.
Combat Style: As a general rule; Red usually will not fight. He certainly can; he's searched high and low for his Spirits to summon, and therefore has had some decent fitness training, and keeps a fairly sharp knife on him at all times. However, until he acquires an artifact to help him out, he'll likely rely on his spirits whenever possible. As a summoner, he has a fair degree of magical aptitude, but hasn't actually sat down to study any kind of magic other than summoning yet.
Kingdom or Faction: None for now.
Primary Role: Saving that for if he joins anything.
